Glass Center Lab Monitor 460 Hollywood Ave - Carneys Point, NJ 08069 Apply Overview Salary Range $17.50 - $17.50
Hourly Apply Description Role:
Assists in effort to have students operate all equipment in a safe manner. Assist in maintenance of all equipment at the Glass Education Center (GEC) and instructs in its proper use.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee the Glass Education Center as assigned by the Glass Studio Specialist. Ensure the continued adherence by students to the rules and procedures of the GEC including health and safety protocol. Oversee students during open lab time as assigned by the Glass Studio Specialist. Assist with minor care and maintenance of the studio/lab equipment, primarily lighting and shutting down the studio areas before or after open lab time. Report any health and safety issues, equipment issues, student issues and/or injuries to the Coordinator of GEC and/or Security. Other duties as assigned by the Glass Studio Specialist.
Qualifications Knowledge and Skills:
Experience High school diploma required. Associate's degree preferred. Can not be a current SCC student. Education Two or more years of experience in the glass field. Interpersonal Skills Ability to community and work effectively with faculty, administrators, staff, students, and the general public. Technical Skills Basic hot shop, cold shop and flame working knowledge. Working knowledge of equipment and materials associated with the creation of glass items for creative and scientific purposes. Other Skills Demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding of the safety rules and procedures, as well as the specific rules for each studio/lab area. An open and flexible attitude and understand their schedule is subject to change based on the Glass Education Center schedule. Physical Requirements Able to stand or walk for long periods of time and lift, move and carry heavy objects. Able to work near and around hot equipment bending and crouching. Work Environment Regular exposure to potentially dangerous conditions such as those found in a facility producing scientific glass and glass art items.
