Position Details Position Information Position Title Media Minister (Student Position) Academic Year 2026-2027 UIW Mission University of the Incarnate Word is a Catholic institution that welcomes to its community persons of diverse backgrounds, in the belief that their respectful interaction advances the discovery of truth, mutual understanding, self-realization, and the common good. Position Summary The Media Minister serves as a Peer Ministry Intern ( PMI ) within University Mission and Ministry ( UMM ) to actuate the mission of the division by engaging university life through prayer, liturgy, outreach, faith development, and pastoral care. This position reports to the Director of Music Ministries and Liturgy. This is a student position open to current UIW students. Essential Functions Produce video, print, and electronic media for various University Mission and Ministry and university-wide events and ministries, including but not limited to: Orientations, Bulletin, Newsletter, weekend/special Masses and Prayer Services, Baccalaureate Masses, and other special events and services as listed on the UMM calendar. Collaborate with the Graduate Assistant for Media and other media ministers to create visually aesthetic and engaging stories through images, writing, and video. Provide brainstorming and feedback for creative projects such as print publications, social media content, and videos. Identify trends and innovative ways to disseminate information to the UIW community (students, faculty and staff, CCVI , and the community at large). Engage with the campus community to create bilingual (English/Spanish) content for UMM video and print publications that foster the mission of the university. Collaborate with other areas within the division, such as Faith Formation, Music Ministry, Ecumenical and Interfaith Ministry, and Liturgy. Attend area and divisional formation sessions as listed on the semesterly calendar; Assist with live-streaming of Masses/services as scheduled. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Knowledge Skills and Abilities Strong leadership qualities. Strong organizational skills. Although some training may be provided in the following areas, a media minister should have basic knowledge of and proficiency in software and social media pertinent to the position, such as, but not limited to Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint,Outlook, Forms, Notebook, One Drive, etc.), Adobe Suite (Adobe, Photoshop, In Design, Illustrator, etc.), Social Media Platforms (Facebook, X, Instagram, etc.), and Final Cut. A willingness to learn and become proficient in other area-specific software, management systems, and equipment, such as but not limited to Hootsuite, Swift Publisher, DSLR camera, Mac Computer, etc. Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures. Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA . Required Education Current UIW student. Required Work Experience Previous experience in writing, photography, design, or video production. Preferred Qualifications Previous participation in ministry as a volunteer or in a part-time or full-time capacity at a church, school, or other institution. Experience in software, social media, and other area-specific management systems and equipment named. Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations None. Work Hours 10 hours per week. Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes some nights and weekends. Physical Demands Ability to lift and/or move at least 15 lbs.
