Job Description

The Kahlert Applied AI Institute is seeking a talented student Photographer to capture compelling visual stories that showcase how AI is transforming education, organizations, and communities. This role is ideal for someone passionate about visual storytelling, event photography, and documenting real-world impact. You will work closely with a collaborative media team and be mentored by an industry leader, contributing work that will be seen by a large and influential audience across Utah and beyond. Plan and execute photography for video productions, articles, courses, and social media. Capture high-quality images at AI events, classes, and interviews. Collaborate with the media team to identify key shots, angles, and storytelling opportunities. Document AI stories (problem ? solution ? measurable impact) through still imagery. Partner with faculty and students to gather visual content and story ideas. Ensure proper event procedures (e.g., posting photography disclaimers). Review media content and provide visual feedback to improve storytelling quality. Organize, edit, and deliver photo assets for use across multiple platforms. Maintain updates in project tracking tools to ensure team alignment. Incorporate feedback from leadership, mentors, and stakeholders. Must be a currently enrolled UVU student. Experience and/or coursework in photography or a related field.
Preferred:
Portfolio demonstrating strong photography skills and storytelling ability. Strong photography skills (composition, lighting, timing, storytelling). Ability to capture candid and staged moments that convey narrative and emotion. Experience using cameras and editing tools to produce high-quality images. Familiarity with AI tools to enhance productivity and creative output. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team. Strong organizational and time management skills. High emotional intelligence and situational awareness. A proactive, self-driven mindset with a desire to continuously improve.
