Production Manager Colorado Chautauqua Association - 3.7 Boulder, CO Job Details Seasonal | Full-time $65,000 - $72,000 a year 19 hours ago Qualifications Live event AV production projects Managing theatrical production teams Lighting control system operation Rigging Live production performance Stage rigging Projection system operation Full Job Description General Purpose/Description The Production and Technical Manager is a full-time, year-round, exempt, benefitted position having overall responsibility for coordinating and the execution of audio/visual and production needs for all public events at Chautauqua. This position acts as Production Manager at the Chautauqua Auditorium and Chautauqua Community House public events, managing year-round, part-time and seasonal staff, and is responsible for ensuring the general maintenance and life cycle of Chautauqua's tech inventory. Evening and weekend work is required in meeting position responsibilities. Duties and Responsibilities Technical Operations - Public Events Oversees all aspects of production in the Auditorium including installation and proper use of technical elements, such as audio, lighting, rigging, and stage management. Serve as liaison between Chautauqua and artist/performer, promoter, private vendor, etc. to ensure all production needs are met and that all tech rider and other contractual obligations are met. Manage the run of show for all events to ensure the proper and timely execution of all elements of the production Develop and foster relationships with artist, tour crew, artist management, and other important personnel to ensure streamlined communication and successful execution of each show. Staff Management Hires, trains, manages, and schedules Chautauqua's tech staff, including a combination of seasonal and year-round staff, to ensure that each event is adequately serviced by the appropriate personnel, and within budgeted staffing guidelines. Ensure that all Technical Staff are properly trained and follow CCA safety guidelines, including the operations of CCA equipment, CCA emergency response plans, and CCA operating policies and procedures. Create production crew schedules, diffuse and resolve employee conflicts; review, approve and submit payroll for production staff. Lead, create and empower a positive and professional team atmosphere. Equipment Inventory/Maintenance Maintain updated inventory of Chautauqua audio/visual and related equipment and identify, troubleshoot, and resolve all equipment and/or technical issues as needed. Responsible for equipment and technical maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and purchases as needed within budget guidelines. Community House Acts as Production Manager for Public Events in the Community House, from advance, to scheduling, to execution. Knowledge/Skills/Experience 5 + years of professional experience in a production position, managing and executing concert events for a large venue. Must have advanced technical skills with running audio consoles, lighting, sound reinforcement, rigging, and general audio/visual equipment, projectors a plus. 3 + years supervisory experience. Knowledge of touring production standards. Knowledge of standard venue production management practices and procedures with experience in performing arts venue preferred. Knowledge of accepted standards of safety in rigging, electrics, and personal safety. Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of state-of-the-art lighting and sound equipment and systems. Knowledge of theatrical and concert design, acoustics, sound, and production needs. Ability to read technical drawings and schematics. Physical Requirements Position works in office, in indoor theaters, and outdoors on the grounds of historic campus and is required at times/seasonally to work long days, evenings, weekends and holidays. Duties require lifting, pushing, pulling and/or carrying objects weighing up to 75 pounds. Must be able to climb stairs, ladders as well as navigate the site, which has a 200-foot elevation change. Required to be on foot for long periods of time. Must be able to maintain standing and walking for extended periods of time. Periodic exposure to loud noises for long periods of time. Periodic inclement weather.
