The news producer is responsible for creating a newscast from top to bottom and managing it throughout the day. The producer will work closely with reporters, photographers, news managers and other staff to build a relevant and compelling product using all available resources.
Job Responsibilities:
The news producer will create a newscast that is compelling and meets the objective and strategy of the news department. The producer will research and write news stories for television, web and mobile. They must also be willing and able to shoot and edit video for stories. The ideal candidate understands the import role a morning show plays in getting viewers ready for their day.
Qualifications Requirements:
Strong writing skills. Solid editorial judgment along with knowledge of local, national and world news. High journalistic ethical standards. Understand the need for urgency and accuracy. Can multi-task and work under pressure, especially in breaking news situations. Must have a passion for news and competitive winning spirit. Willing to take risks in the name of creativity in storytelling and presentation. Understands how to maximize visuals and video editing principles. Will work well with others and be a good teammate. Willingness to work an overnight shift, as this role is for a morning show.
Education:
Degree in broadcast journalism, broadcast news or related field.
Experience:
Minimum two years of broadcast news experience preferred, preferably as a line producer Knowledge of ENPS newsroom software is a plus Understanding of AP style and broadcast writing Knowledge of digital platforms and use of social media
