Location:
Newton Country Day School, 785 Centre St. Newton, MA
Schedule:
Seasonal (Summer); 20-25 hours a week for 6-8 weeks
Stipend:
$20 per hour, (Maximum stipend of $4,000) Position Summary The Technical Theatre Intern will assist in the process of building the set for our Fall musical production. This internship provides valuable hands-on experience in carpentry and construction, with potential for also contributing to some prop/scenic design elements. This position reports to the Technical Director. Key Responsibilities Assist in the construction of set pieces utilizing various materials and tools. May include general scenic design/painting, ing techniques to achieve desired artistic effects. Maintain a safe andanized workspace, adhering to industry safety standards. Learn and best practices in carpentry and construction techniques. Keep accurate records of materials used and assist in inventory management. Assist in cleaning andanizing technical theatre spaces including prop closet, scene shop, booth.
Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Experience working in theatre stagecraft and a passion for technical theatre. Basic knowledge of carpentry and set construction techniques. Willingness to learn and take direction while also contributing creatively. Ability to work collaboratively and ad to deadlines. Strongmunication and problem-solving skills. Physical ability to perform labor-intensive work and lift heavy (50+ pounds) objects.
