Minneapolis, MN Job Details 1 hour ago Benefits Opportunities for advancement Qualifications Customer communication Bachelor's degree in engineering PPAP Full Job Description Position Summary We are seeking an experienced and driven Production Manager to lead operations within a heavy industrial steel processing and manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for overseeing daily production activities, driving operational efficiency, ensuring safety and quality compliance, and leading continuous improvement initiatives across the facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline, combined with hands-on manufacturing leadership experience in metals, steel processing, fabrication, or industrial manufacturing operations. This position requires a technically skilled leader who can manage production performance, maintenance coordination, workforce development, and customer-driven operational objectives in a fast-paced industrial setting. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage daily production operations with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, productivity, and operational efficiency Supervise and develop front-line production supervisors and manufacturing personnel Plan staffing, equipment, and material requirements based on production forecasts and customer demand Drive continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Six Sigma, and other operational excellence methodologies Coordinate cross-functional activities between production, quality, maintenance, engineering, and supply chain teams Oversee preventative maintenance programs to minimize equipment downtime and maximize production reliability Monitor production metrics, operational KPIs, scrap reduction, labor utilization, and process efficiencies Collaborate directly with customers to ensure production schedules, quality standards, and delivery expectations are achieved Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards, environmental regulations, and company safety procedures Support employee development through coaching, mentoring, and performance management initiatives Assist with budgeting, cost control, labor planning, and financial performance analysis Enforce company policies, procedures, and applicable collective bargaining agreements when required Support APQP and PPAP processes to ensure quality and manufacturing readiness Maintain compliance withISO 9001
standards and quality management systems Identify manufacturing bottlenecks and implement process improvements to improve throughput and delivery performance Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related engineering discipline required 3-5+ years of manufacturing leadership or production management experience within heavy industrial manufacturing, steel processing, metal fabrication, or related industries Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of industrial manufacturing equipment and production systems Experience reading engineering drawings, fabrication prints, and complex manufacturing specifications Working knowledge of GD&T and metal fabrication processes Experience with welding operations and stainless steel manufacturing preferred Experience supporting APQP and PPAP quality processes required Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, and process optimization methodologies Experience withISO 9001
