Job Description

Position Overview The Arbogast Performing Arts Center (APAC) is seeking a dynamic, organized, and experienced Production Manager to lead theatrical and event operations for our state-of-the-art 1,200-seat venue. The Production Manager oversees the planning, logistics, and technical execution of all APAC Signature Series performances, community events, and commercial venue rentals. This role collaborates closely with touring artists, external vendors, venue staff, and local technical contractors to ensure safe, flawless, and world-class event execution.
Key Responsibilities Show Advancing & Logistics:
Act as the primary technical point of contact for touring artists. Interpret technical riders, conduct advance calls, and coordinate backend hospitality, catering, and travel logistics.
Crew & Staffing Management:
Recruit, schedule, and supervise production crew, stagehands, and specialized technical contractors (audio, lighting, video).
Event Execution:
Oversee physical stage load-ins, setups, front-of-house operations, and load-outs. Ensure all scheduling milestones and performance timelines are strictly met.
Resource & Budget Tracking:
Manage backstage expendable inventories, track production-related expenses, process vendor invoices, and maintain strict adherence to event budgets.
Cross-Department Collaboration:
Partner closely with internal departments—including Facilities, Box Office, and Marketing—to seamlessly coordinate lobby entertainment, video displays, and event layouts. Qualifications Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in production management, stage management, or technical direction within a theater, performing arts center, or live music venue. Deep understanding of live entertainment technical systems (audio networks, digital lighting consoles, rigging safety, and media displays). Excellent interpersonal, scheduling, and conflict-resolution skills with a proven track record of leading diverse production teams. Ability to work a flexible schedule dictated by the performance calendar, including frequent evenings, weekends, and holiday periods. Degree in Theater Production, Arts Management, or equivalent professional industry experience preferred.
