Job Description

Position Summary The Production Manager is responsible for leading all day-to-day manufacturing operations to ensure products are produced safely, efficiently, on time, and within quality standards. This role oversees production planning, workforce management, process improvement, and coordination with procurement, inventory, and distribution. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong operational discipline, team development, and continuous improvement mindset to support a growing manufacturing and distribution business. Key Responsibilities Production Operations Oversee daily production activities to meet output, quality, and delivery targets Develop and manage production schedules in alignment with sales forecasts and order demand Ensure efficient use of labor, materials, and equipment Monitor production metrics (throughput, downtime, scrap, on-time delivery) and take corrective action Team Leadership & Development Lead, coach, and develop production supervisors and floor staff Establish clear expectations, accountability, and performance standards Drive a culture of teamwork, ownership, and continuous improvement Assist in hiring, training, and workforce planning Process Improvement & Efficiency Identify and reduce waste in materials, labor, and processes Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across all production areas Lead continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, 5S, workflow optimization) Improve production flow, reduce bottlenecks, and increase capacity Quality & Compliance Ensure all products meet company and customer quality standards Partner with quality control to resolve defects and implement preventative measures Maintain compliance with safety regulations and company policies Promote and enforce a strong safety culture Work with Safety and OSHA consultant to make sure a safe work environment is maintained Inventory & Materials Coordination Collaborate with purchasing and inventory teams to ensure proper material availability Perform inventory cycle counts as needed Minimize raw material waste and optimize inventory levels Support accurate inventory tracking Writing purchase orders as needed Cross-Functional Coordination Work closely with Sales, Customer Service, and Distribution to ensure on-time order fulfillment Align production priorities with company goals and customer expectations Support ERP system utilization and improvements (planning, scheduling, reporting) Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) On-time production and order fulfillment Production efficiency and labor utilization Scrap and material waste reduction Downtime reduction and equipment utilization Employee productivity and retention Safety performance (incident rates) One on One meetings bi-weekly with each production employee Work with each production employee on their Personal, Professional and Financial goals (PPF) Qualifications Required 5+ years of experience in manufacturing operations, with leadership responsibility Proven ability to manage teams in a fast-paced production environment Strong understanding of production scheduling and workflow management Experience with process improvement and waste reduction Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills Preferred Experience in a manufacturing and distribution environment Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma experience Mechanical or process-oriented background Key Traits for Success Hands-on, lead-from-the-front leadership style Strong accountability and ownership mindset Ability to balance strategic thinking with daily execution High attention to detail with a focus on efficiency Strong communication across all levels of the organization Why This Role Matters This role is critical to improving operational efficiency, reducing waste, and building scalable systems that support the company's growth. Pay:
$80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
