Job Description
Description We are looking for detail-focused Proofreaders to support short-term remote assignments reviewing written materials in Slovak language for a services environment. This contract position is based remotely, and each project is expected to run for 3 days with an early start date. The role is well suited for language specialists who can refine content for accuracy, consistency, and readability while working independently and managing deadlines effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Review Slovak documents line by line to correct errors in spelling, grammar, punctuation, syntax, and layout.
- Verify that translated or localized content reads naturally and aligns with the standards of the target language.
- Apply established proofreading guidelines to preserve consistency in tone, terminology, and formatting across documents.
- Complete assigned projects within agreed timelines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Provide timely updates on progress, raise clarification needs quickly, and respond efficiently to project-related questions.
- Handle confidential or sensitive materials responsibly and follow appropriate data privacy expectations.
- Use Google Workspace and related digital tools to access files, document edits, and support remote collaboration. Requirements
- At least 1 year of experience in proofreading, proofing, copy review, or a closely related language-focused role.
- Business-level proficiency in Slovak language.
- Strong command of written grammar, punctuation, spelling, and usage rules in the language supported.
- Demonstrated ability to spot inconsistencies in wording, formatting, and document presentation.
- Familiarity with Google Workspace and confidence working in a fully remote environment.
- Ability to manage short project cycles, stay organized, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Sound judgment when working with private or sensitive information.
- Clear written communication skills for reporting status, asking questions, and documenting edits accurately.
