Job Description

Here's your chance for a full-time position at the nation's largest regional wire service. While City News Service reporters and editors cover all the top breaking news in Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego and Riverside counties, our subscribers also depend on us to let them know about planned news events. And that's where you come in.

Nearly all TV stations, national networks, major newspapers and news-oriented radio stations in Southern California, as well as numerous websites and other digital media, rely on City News Service to help make their coverage decisions. Much of your job will be writing and putting together the CNS ``Budget" that lists major upcoming news events for each week and each day. Accuracy and meeting deadlines are extremely important. Our subscribers are making significant coverage decisions based on your work.

This opportunity is a great introduction to a professional newsroom at all levels, and will be a great first step in your journalism career. You'll be working in our West Los Angeles office, so applicants must live in and be familiar with the L.A. area. We prefer an undergraduate college degree and some experience via journalism internships or your college newspaper. Familiarity with AP style and some knowledge of digital content creation and SEO tools would be a plus. The salary range is $42,000•46,000 based on several factors, including, but not limited to, education and work experience.

If this sounds as if it's the position for you, immediately email your resume•with a cover letter•to Editor-in-Chief Marty Sauerzopf at marty@socalnews.com. City News Service (www.

SoCalNews.com) is an equal opportunity employer. Because of the number of applications, we may not be able to respond to every applicant.
