Job Description

Telemundo 48 / NBC Bay Area is looking for a resourceful,high-energy freelance Bilingual Multimedia Journalist/Reporter to deliverimpactful news coverage across broadcast, digital, and streaming platforms.

This role is ideal for a journalist who is equallycomfortable in the field and on air and can produce compelling,community-focused stories from concept to completion. The right candidate is fluentin Spanish and English (spoken and written) and brings a strong editorial voiceto a fast-moving, bilingual newsroom. What You'll Do Own the full storytelling process: pitch, research, write, shoot, and edit original stories. Produce content for newscasts, streaming, and digital platforms with speed and accuracy. Report live from the field, covering breaking news and developing stories in real time. Conduct interviews fluently in Spanish and English. Create content for broadcast, web, social, and other platforms. Set up and execute live shots independently, including operating equipment such as DJERO when needed. Work closely with assignment editors, producers, and newsroom leadership to shape daily coverage. Share content across social platforms when assigned. Represent the station at community events and public-facing opportunities. Fill in as a back-up anchor on a per-assignment basis when needed. What You Bring Fluency in Spanish and English (both spoken and written) is required. Strong storytelling skills with solid broadcast writing experience. Proven ability to shoot and edit news content in the field. Working knowledge of newsroom operations, cameras, and nonlinear editing systems. Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and meet tight deadlines. Strong understanding of Northern and Central California news. Bonus Points If You Have 2+ years of experience as an MMJ, reporter, or similar role. Experience working across broadcast, digital, and streaming platforms. Comfort in breaking news and high-pressure situations. Strong collaboration skills and a team-first mindset. Experience with DJERO or similar live transmission equipment. Freelance Details This is a freelance/independent contractor role (not staff). Schedule varies based on newsroom needs and may include early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Assignments are project-based with no guaranteed minimum hours. Must be willing to work in the San Jose / Bay Area market. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
