Job Description

The Senate Republican Caucus seeks a Communications Lead to assist with our communications strategy. The right person for this role is a skilled communicator with a deep understanding of the political landscape of Colorado, the legislative process, and political nuance regarding legislative business. This position is responsible for caucus messaging, relationships with media, tracking and improving media performance - including social media, and outreach activities.
Responsibilities May Include:
Writing press releases, speeches, op-eds, and other communications materials Building and maintaining relationships with the media, including TV, radio, and digital outlets Monitoring and soliciting media coverage for caucus members Producing digital and print materials, such as website and social media content Engaging with community leaders and organizations This position is not part of the state classified personnel system and therefore does not have an appeals procedure.
Qualifications:
Track record of success in a similar role, including experience working on a media campaign Familiarity with the Colorado legislative process and the issues important to the caucus Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong leadership and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in communications, political science, or a related field 2+ years of experience in political communications
Salary and Benefits:
The salary range is $48,000-$73,000 , depending on qualifications and experience. A competitive benefits package is provided that includes: health/dental insurance primarily paid by the employer, employer-covered life insurance, PERA retirement plan, 10 paid sick days and 12 paid vacation days per year (not including holidays), 12 weeks of paid family medical leave for eligible employees, and a complimentary parking space or RTD ecopass. •
