Job Description

Blaze News is seeking excellent investigative reporters to join our teams in Washington, D.C., and Dallas. We are looking for experienced professionals as well as highly motivated emerging journalists who are driven to break meaningful stories, uncover important truths, and deliver impactful reporting. This role requires a strong commitment to rigorous, independent journalism. Successful candidates will pursue stories that demand persistence, curiosity, and a willingness to explore complex or underreported topics. An effective investigative reporter combines self-starting curiosity and initiative with precision. Attention to detail is critical, including the ability to analyze financial disclosures, public records, datasets, and Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) materials. Candidates should be comfortable working with structured data, verifying information thoroughly, and maintaining high standards of accuracy. When you break news and crack narratives, you'll take fire, so a thick skin is also important. This position also involves active field reporting. The ideal candidate is skilled at developing sources, conducting interviews in dynamic environments, and confidently engaging subjects to obtain on-the-record responses. We view journalism as a craft developed through discipline and performance. While formal training is valued, we place greater emphasis on demonstrated ability, strong work ethic, sound judgment, and consistent output.
Key qualifications:
Demonstrated interest or experience in investigative reporting Strong research, analytical, and fact-checking skills Ability to work independently and meet deadlines Excellent written and verbal communication skills Persistence, professionalism, and editorial integrity A deep and insatiable curiosity and willingness to question official narratives — even the popular ones If you are committed to producing high-quality investigative journalism that changes and even breaks the news cycle, this is the place for you.
