Job Description
North Central Florida Media in Ocala is looking for an energetic, driven, digital-savvy reporter for the online local news site 352today.com. The reporter will focus on crime, courts, civic issues, and schools but will have opportunities to cover a wide array of topics as part of a four-member news team.
Writing on average one article per day while developing investigative projects.
Taking photos and video as needed.
Crafting and posting social media content (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter).Using audience metrics to improve story ideas and storytelling strategies.
Engaging with the community to develop sourcing, both in-person and on social media.
Representing the company to the public to provide excellent customer service.
The ideal candidate will have:
A bachelor's degree in journalism, communications or a related field.
Journalism experience as an intern, in college media or the professional industry.
Top-notch writing ability.
A proactive attitude toward identifying and pitching stories of importance to the communityActive engagement on social media platforms.
The ability to learn and adapt quickly to emerging technologies.
Teamwork skills for effective work in a collaborative, supportive environment.
This position pays $40,000 per year. It includes fantastic benefits and the opportunity to enjoy a career in digital journalism.
