Job Description

Job Summary The Donor Engagement Specialist is a key member of the Development Team responsible for creating, executing and/or supporting comprehensive donor stewardship and reporting and supports other efforts to create content that is engaging to our supporters on both emotional and analytical levels. Responsibilities
  • Oversee the completion of Animal Humane's regular print publications, including the quarterly newsletter, Paws for Thought online newsletter, and the Annual Gratitude Report/Financial Impact Report.
  • Create and distribute a variety of regularly scheduled eblasts including quarterly (Humane Heroes E-Mews, Compassion Connection) and monthly (Paw Print, Impact Stories) and, as needed, other reporting eblasts.
  • Provide specialized impact stories for a variety of programmatic, grant, and reporting needs.
  • Assist in the idea generation and copy-editing of fundraising communications, as needed.
  • Assist in the creation of story-focused marketing material and donor recognition pieces across multiple departments.
  • Evaluate existing reporting strategies for new and improved methods.
  • Manage the stewardship and retention programs of vital donor segments, including recurring, lapsed, and new donors.
  • Create monthly and specialized acknowledgement letters for all donor gift receipting,
  • Establish and maintain automated stewardship journeys for each segment through Virtuous.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to create targeted stewardship materials through print and digital media.
  • Participate in various efforts to cultivate & steward donors at all levels, including but not limited to donor gift deliveries, thank you calls, and written notes as assigned.
  • Supports all aspects of shelter events including administrative preparation, promotion, attendance, and set up/tear down.
  • Evaluate existing & recommend new stewardship tactics for all donors.
  • Appear on local radio affiliate bi-monthly to share current fundraising efforts and events with the general public.
  • Represent Animal Humane at off-site events, presentations, and partnership meetings, as requested.
  • Assist in New Hire Training representing Development and Marketing, when needed.
  • Assist with grant writing & reporting, as requested.
  • Ensure public-facing materials comply with Brand Style Guide.
  • Manage current storytelling prospects and identify the most effective medium and message to maximize fundraising and impact effectiveness.
  • Manage inventory of donor recognition collateral, i.e. post cards, stickers, donor info pamphlets, etc.
  • Assist in copy editing of fundraising and other materials.
Job Conditions This is a full-time, exempt position requiring flexible working hours that includes evening and weekend hours throughout the year. Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle year-round is required. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Job Requirements Degree in communications, professional writing, or similar preferred. 2+ years of experience in a nonprofit or comparable setting required.
