North Country Public Radio is seeking acreative, ambitious, and talented reporter to join our award-winning,nationally recognized news team. This position is centered in Glens Falls, NY,a growing city with tons of new energy, reporting stories from places acrossthe southern Adirondacks and Champlain Valley, from Ticonderoga to Minerva toNorth Creek to Lake George. Lawrence River and Thousand Islands, to the Adirondack Mountains, the Tug HillPlateau, and Akwesasne Mohawk territory. Our reporters cover the critical issuesfacing our communities, including criminal justice and prison reform, policing,border and immigration, economic development, rural health care, agriculture,climate change, native issues, and much more.
Primary Responsibilities include:
Generalassignment reporter to cover the southern Adirondack region.
Produce newsstories for broadcast, digital, and social media platforms that serve themission of the news department to provide coverage of issues of regionalimportance.
Establish a"mini-beat" to dig deeper.
Enterprising andself-motivated, able to work on their own, and with a team.
Manage the newsteam's community engagement efforts, reaching out and listening to NorthCountry residents to help develop deeper stories at the earliest stages ofreporting.
Using the650-member NCPR Texting Club (based in the Groundsource platform) and otherengagement tools, work with the news team to seed story ideas and callouts.
Support otherreporters in their callouts and community engagement efforts.
Encouraged tofile national stories with NPR and other public media outlets.
Work closelywith editors and fellow reporters to produce your best work.
Collaborate withthe news team on special projects and investigative journalism.
Approximately65% of time spent doing traditional reporting; 35% spent doing communityengagement work.

This position is based in GlensFalls. This is a remote work position with occasional travel and work time inthe main NCPR headquarters station in Canton, N.Y. Annual salary is $62,353.20 Minimum QualificationsAt least 2years' reporting experience, preferably in public radio.
Strongbackground in journalism for radio and digital platformsExcellentwriting skills for broadcast and webAbility to worksuccessfully from home/remote office, various hours, including nights andweekends, depending on assignmentValid Driver'slicense and vehiclePreferred QualificationsExperience withcommunity engagement journalism and knowledge of tools and best practices.
Ability torecord and gather high-quality audio in the fieldAbility to useaudio editing systems, such as Adobe AuditionExpertise inmulti-media skills, including photography, visual journalism, data-basedreporting, social media engagement, etc.
