The sports beat in Rapid City includes coverage of highschool sports fall through spring in Rapid City, a metro of about 150,000people with three public schools and two private schools, along with otherschools in the Black Hills area. The sports department also covers AmericanLegion baseball during the summer and a handful of rodeos throughout the year,along with a minor league hockey team and two Division II colleges when timeallows.

The position is part of an upbeat, award-winning newsroomand offers the opportunity to produce content for print and online on a widevariety of topics at a paper that values enterprise and watchdog reporting aswell as narrative storytelling. The role includes producing photos and shortvideos for most stories.

The Journal newsroom, located in the heart of downtown RapidCity, is made up of great journalists who work hard and enjoy working togetherto tell the stories of the people, places and events happening in the BlackHills.
