Job Description

Job Overview Children's Legacy Theater (CLT) is seeking passionate, creative, and collaborative Teaching Artists and Production Staff to mentor youth ages 12-18 during our 2026 Summer Program. We are currently hiring for the following positions: Tech Director (Sound & Lights), Props Manager / Set Designer, Costume Designer, Acting Coach, and Stage Manager. At CLT, we believe in amplifying youth voices through the transformative power of theater. Serving young people in Washington, D.C.'s Ward 7 and Ward 8, our Summer Program provides students with hands-on training in performance and production as they develop and rehearse 3-4 short plays in a fast-paced, supportive, and creatively driven environment. In this role, you will mentor students, teach industry-relevant skills in your area of expertise, and help guide youth through the creative process while fostering confidence, collaboration, and artistic growth. This paid summer opportunity offers the chance to make a meaningful impact while working alongside a vibrant community of artists and educators.

Monday-Friday | 8:30 AM - 2:00
PM Location:

Compensation:
$500 weekly stipend Responsibilities Mentor and instruct youth ages 12-18 in your specialized area of theatre practice Guide students through the creative and production process of 3-4 short theatrical works Create engaging, hands-on learning experiences that encourage creativity, teamwork, and leadership Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment for artistic exploration and youth development Collaborate with fellow teaching artists and staff to support the overall success of the Summer Program Provide constructive feedback and encouragement to help students build confidence and refine their skills Assist in preparing students and productions for culminating performances at the conclusion of the program Position-Specific Responsibilities May Include Tech Director (Sound & Lights): Teach and oversee basic sound, lighting, and technical theater operations Props Manager /
Set Designer:
Guide students in designing, sourcing, organizing, and creating props and scenic elements
Costume Designer:
Support costume planning, organization, basic alterations, and character-based costume development
Acting Coach:
Lead performance-based exercises, scene work, character development, and rehearsal support
Stage Manager:
Help organize rehearsals, track production needs, maintain schedules, and support backstage operations Requirements Experience in theatre, arts education, performance, technical theatre, or a related field relevant to the position Passion for mentoring and working with youth ages 12-18 Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, creative, and team-oriented environment Previous teaching, coaching, directing, or youth mentorship experience preferred but not required Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment Join us at Children's Legacy Theater and help inspire the next generation of storytellers, performers, and creative leaders through the power of theatre.
