This role works closely with the Production Sound Mixer to ensure clean, consistent, and high-quality dialogue and ambient sound recording. This is a project-based role with the potential for ongoing collaboration across multiple productions. Key Responsibilities Operate boom microphone to capture clear dialogue and on-set sound Position microphones effectively while staying out of frame Follow blocking and camera movement to maintain optimal audio coverage Collaborate closely with the Production Sound Mixer and Director Assist with setup and breakdown of audio equipment Monitor environmental noise and adjust positioning as needed Maintain awareness of continuity in sound recording Qualifications Prior experience as a Boom Operator or in production sound (portfolio/references preferred) Strong understanding of microphone placement and audio fundamentals Ability to work long shoots while maintaining precision and focus Strong communication and teamwork skills Physical stamina to hold boom equipment for extended periods Preferred Qualifications Experience on narrative film, television, or commercial productions Familiarity with wireless audio systems and lavalier microphones Experience working with small, agile production crews Understanding of on-set etiquette and production workflow Equipment Production audio equipment will be provided Experience working with professional boom poles, shotgun microphones, and wireless systems is required Work Environment On-location shoots (indoor and outdoor environments) Flexible hours based on production schedules Fast-paced, collaborative set environment Equal Opportunity Les Maquis Films, LLC is committed to building a diverse and inclusive creative team and encourages applicants from all backgrounds to apply.
