Job Description

Seeking a sound mixer and sound designer for my 20-minute found footage analog horror short, Patterns in the Sound. The film is framed as recovered 2006 footage from the
Mojave Desert:
a crew investigating a musician who vanished in 1975 chasing strange frequencies in the desert. Please note: original music and the score (including the otherworldly tones and signal textures the characters hear) are being handled separately and will be provided. This role is focused on everything around that. This is a full audio post pass, one person handling the chain: Dialogue clean-up, noise reduction, de-essing, click and hum removal, and edit smoothing across footage that is meant to feel "recovered" Light Foley, footsteps, cloth, prop handling, and key spot effects Sound design, the diegetic and textural layer: desert ambiences, wind, fire, gear and camera sounds, walkie static, and the "recovered footage" treatment that gives the different in-world cameras (MiniDV, Super 8, 16mm, location recorder, reel-to-reel) their distinct sonic character. Working with the provided score to weave it into these soundscapes Final mix, balancing dialogue, design, and the provided music and score into a deliverable mix
Deliverables:
Final stereo (or 5.1 if needed) mix, plus stems.
