Pay:
Starting at $20/hour, with pay increases available through our Tech Development Program (industry-recognized certification milestones earn cash bonuses and permanent hourly raises). About the role Pirates Dinner Adventure is hiring an experienced Audio Technician to run live audio for our nightly dinner shows in Orlando. You'll mix shows on a Yamaha QL1 or Behringer X32, drive cue playback through QLab, work with a Dante network, and Q-SYS software — all aboard an 18th-century galleon with 40-foot masts in a 300,000-gallon lagoon. It's a real production with serious gear and a tight crew. What you'll be doing Mixing live shows on Yamaha QL1 or Behringer X32 (FOH and monitor) Running QLab cue stacks during the show — opening the workspace, advancing cues, recovering cleanly if something hiccups Building, saving, and recalling scenes on the console; protecting show files Pre-show mic check and setup, mid-show troubleshooting, and post-show tear-down Collaborating with performers and the rest of the crew What we're looking for Hands-on live mixing experience on a digital console — Yamaha QL series, Behringer X32, or equivalent Comfort running QLab during a live show — opening a workspace, going through a cue list, jumping to a cue if needed, and recovering from a misfire (you don't need to be able to build a workspace from scratch) Familiarity with Dante networks — the system is already built and patched; you'll be working within it Q-SYS familiarity is a plus (the system is configured; day-to-day operation doesn't require deep Q-SYS work) DMX-512 fundamentals — basic understanding of how theatrical lighting is addressed and controlled is a plus, not required Local to Orlando with reliable transportation (this is in-person work) Working conditions Available evenings, weekends, and holidays (this is when our shows run) Comfortable working at heights and around prop firearms / pyrotechnic effects Able to lift 50 lbs Comfortable on and around water (the stage is in a 300,000-gallon lagoon) Why this job is worth your time Real gear, real shows, every night. You'll get more reps in a month than most theatre techs get in a year. Paid development. We run a structured Tech Development Program that pays cash bonuses for completing free industry certifications across the gear we use, plus permanent hourly raises at defined ranks. Build out your résumé with credentials that travel anywhere in the industry, on our dime. A team that takes the craft seriously. Not a "press play and hope" room.
