The Audio Technician is AMS Events' in-house audio specialist. You own the audio discipline from pre-production prep through show-day operation — ensuring every system is properly designed, rigged, tested, and executed for each assigned event. You work within a siloed discipline: audio is your lane, and you own it completely. About AMS Events LLC AMS Events is a leading event production company based in Carrollton, TX. Description About AMS Events AMS Events is a full-service event production company specializing in corporate events, conferences, and live entertainment. Our Audio Technician is a core member of the in-house production team responsible for delivering consistent, professional sound across every show type we produce. Role Overview The Audio Technician is AMS Events' in-house audio specialist. You own the audio discipline from pre-production prep through show-day operation — ensuring every system is properly designed, rigged, tested, and executed for each assigned event. You work within a siloed discipline: audio is your lane, and you own it completely. Day-to-day, you report to the Technical Director, who provides technical direction, equipment specifications, and production plans. On show day, you operate under the direction of the Show Lead, who manages overall on-site execution. Your job is to make sure the audio never fails, never surprises, and never gets in the way of a great show. What You'll Own Pre-Show Preparation Review the technical rider, equipment list, and show documentation provided by the Technical Director for each assigned event Pull, inspect, and prep all audio equipment required for the show — consoles, microphones, IEMs, speaker systems, cables, and signal processing Build and test audio system configurations before load-out — ensuring everything is working, properly labeled, and packed for transport Coordinate with the Warehouse Manager on equipment pull lists and flag any gear that is damaged, missing, or requires substitution Advance audio-specific requirements with venues and coordinate any house system integration needs Show Day Operation Serve as the primary audio operator on all assigned shows — from load-in and soundcheck through the live event and load-out Set up, tune, and operate the audio system according to the show's technical plan and the client's expectations Run front-of-house mix for corporate presentations, conferences, concerts, and live entertainment events Manage microphone placement, gain structure, monitor mixes, and real-time system adjustments throughout the show Operate under the direction of the Show Lead on-site — communicating clearly, responding to changes, and maintaining professionalism in front of clients and venue staff Troubleshoot audio issues in real time — quickly and calmly, without disrupting the show or alarming the client Equipment Stewardship Return all audio equipment to the warehouse in clean, tested, and properly packed condition after every show Flag any damaged, malfunctioning, or missing equipment to the Technical Director and Warehouse Manager with documentation Stay current on the audio equipment in AMS inventory — knowing what we have, how it performs, and how to get the best out of it Provide input to the Technical Director on equipment performance, upgrade opportunities, and gaps in the audio inventory Continuous Improvement Stay current on industry-standard audio consoles, software, and production techniques Share learnings, show notes, and technical observations with the TD and production team to improve future events Contribute to AMS audio standards — preferred configurations, signal flow templates, and best practices for recurring show types Requirements 2-5 years of experience as an audio technician in live event production — corporate, conference, or entertainment formats Proficiency with industry-standard audio consoles and signal processing equipment Experience setting up, tuning, and operating full PA systems and monitor systems Strong troubleshooting skills — able to diagnose and resolve audio issues quickly under show conditions Professional demeanor on-site — comfortable working around clients, executives, and performers Physically able to lift and move equipment, stand for extended periods, and work in varying venue conditions Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to event sites Salary $70,000 - $85,000 per year
