This is a hands-on, production-facing role responsible for producing clean, accurate SolidWorks drawings from legacy source material, and authoring clear technical documentation — SOPs, assembly instructions, and work instructions — that our manufacturing team relies on every day. Key Responsibilities SolidWorks Drafting & Drawing Conversion Interpret legacy drawings — including hand-drafted prints, scanned blueprints, and older 2D CAD files — and recreate them as accurate, production-ready SolidWorks part and assembly drawings Apply GD&T callouts and engineering drawing standards (ASME Y14.5) correctly and consistently across all drawings Produce detailed assembly drawings including BOM tables, balloon callouts, section and detail views, and title block information Conduct drawing reviews with engineering and manufacturing stakeholders; incorporate redlines and markup revisions efficiently Manage drawing releases through the document control system, maintaining accurate revision records Identify and flag inconsistencies, missing data, or conflicts discovered during drawing conversion and escalate to the responsible engineer Produce and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and parts lists tied to released drawings Technical Writing & SOP Authoring Write SOPs, assembly work instructions, inspection checklists, and operator reference guides for manufacturing and assembly processes Conduct structured conversations with production supervisors and leads to capture undocumented or informally documented processes Translate complex assembly sequences and manufacturing steps into clear, numbered instructions usable by technicians at all experience levels Incorporate supporting visuals — annotated diagrams, screenshots, photos, and SolidWorks drawing views — to reinforce written instructions Coordinate with QA/QC to ensure all work instructions include appropriate quality checkpoints and inspection hold points Participate in documentation review cycles; update SOPs promptly following engineering changes, process updates, or quality findings Qualifications Required 2-5 years of experience in a technical drafting or technical writing role within a manufacturing or engineering environment SolidWorks proficiency — parts, assemblies, and detailed drawings (portfolio or work samples strongly preferred) Experience interpreting and converting legacy or hand-drafted drawings into CAD-based documentation Working knowledge of GD&T principles and mechanical engineering drawing standards Proven ability to write SOPs, work instructions, or assembly procedures for a manufacturing audience Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings, assembly schematics, and BOMs Strong attention to detail — errors in drawings and documentation have real production consequences and you treat them accordingly Ability to manage a personal task queue, meet deadlines, and communicate proactively when timelines are at risk Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Drafting & Design, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Technical Communications, or a related field CSWA (Certified SolidWorks Associate) certification or higher (preferred) Experience with SolidWorks PDM, Vault, or a comparable document management / PLM system Exposure to
ISO 9001
