In this role, you will develop, manage, and maintain clear and user-friendly documentation to support IT systems, applications, and business processes. Based in Rancho Cordova, California, this position collaborates with various stakeholders to ensure high-quality documentation that meets organizational standards and compliance requirements.
Responsibilities:
Create and maintain technical documentation, including user guides, standard operating procedures (SOPs), technical specifications, release notes, and knowledge base articles. Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), developers, project managers, and other stakeholders to gather and translate complex technical information into accessible content. Apply and enforce organizational documentation standards, templates, and style guides to ensure consistency and clarity. Organize and manage documentation within systems like SharePoint to improve accessibility and usability. Update and revise documentation as needed to reflect changes in systems, processes, or project requirements. Conduct interviews and working sessions with technical and business teams to capture detailed requirements and updates. Support IT projects by providing documentation throughout the system development lifecycle, including project closeout and knowledge transfer. Train and guide team members on documentation best practices and style consistency. Maintain version control and ensure compliance with governance, security, and regulatory standards. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance documentation processes. Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, Information Systems, English, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience. At least 5 years of experience as a Technical Writer in an IT or technology-focused environment. Proficiency in technical writing tools, such as Adobe FrameMaker and Adobe RoboHelp. Strong knowledge of AP style guidelines and technical writing standards. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly. Familiarity with IT systems, software applications, and methodologies like Agile or Waterfall. Experience with document management platforms, such as SharePoint or Confluence. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
