This role is responsible for preparing, reviewing, revising, and maintaining technical documentation including user guides, implementation materials, and system documentation. The Technical Writer will work closely with engineers, developers, and program stakeholders to translate complex technical information into clear, concise, and usable content for a variety of audiences. The Technical Writer will support documentation across the full lifecycle, including development, testing, deployment, and sustainment activities. This role also includes maintaining an internal documentation library, coordinating document layout and formatting, and producing reports, briefings, and training materials. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and can effectively organize and communicate highly technical information.
Education / Experience
Six (6) years of experience as a Technical Writer supporting programs of similar scope and complexity is required. Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Four (4) additional years of Technical Writer experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.Salary:
$100,000-$120,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position, but is not guaranteed. Salary is based on experience, location and contractual requirements which could fall outside of the range listed. , Required Skills Experience preparing, reviewing, revising, and maintaining technical documentation across software, systems engineering, and operational environments Experience developing user guides, training materials, implementation guides, and technical publications Experience working with engineers and developers to gather technical information and translate it into written documentation Experience maintaining documentation libraries and organizing technical content from multiple sources Experience producing reports, responses, and briefings for both technical and non-technical audiences Experience coordinating document layout, formatting, and overall design Experience interpreting engineering documentation, diagrams, and data flows to produce written materials Experience using Microsoft Office Suite tools including Word, PowerPoint, and Visio Experience supporting documentation across all phases of the system lifecycle , Desired Skills Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) or Intelligence Community (IC) programs Experience supporting cybersecurity, systems engineering, or mission-focused programs Familiarity with Agile environments and tools such as JIRA or Confluence Experience producing documentation for acquisition, policy, or operational processes Experience working with highly technical subject matter and simplifying content for broad audiences , About Tensley Consulting, Inc.
