The Technical Writer will provide senior-level technical expertise in Maintenance Procedure Card (MPC) development and reliability analysis for IBCT assets. The role includes leading maintenance development activities, validating technical data, developing compliant MPCs, and applying reliability methodologies in accordance withCGTO PG-85-00-230

Series, and associated desk guides. The Technical Writer will serve as a technical expert across multiple project areas, evaluates results, recommends improvements, and may guide or supervise other personnel. DUTIES Develop, update, route, and administer MPCs in accordance with approved Coast Guard processes and IT systems. Conduct fleet data calls and research technical, maintenance, and supply data for IBCT asset systems. Review technical publications, drawings, graphics, and tables for accuracy and recommend updates. Perform ship visits to obtain or validate technical information for MPC development. Convert technical data into clear, compliant maintenance procedures. Complete an average of 8-10 MPCs per month or provide justification to the COR in monthly reporting when targets are not met. Apply Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Level of Repair Analysis (LORA), Level of Maintenance Analysis (LOMA), and Readiness Based Sparing (RBS) concepts to support maintenance and sustainment strategy decisions. Support reliability tasks in accordance with theCGTO PG-85-00-30
Series. Align maintenance strategies with Coast Guard sustainment principles, including Configuration Management, Total Asset Visibility, Bi-Level Maintenance, and Product Line Management. Provide technical recommendations, performance analysis, reports, and process improvements supporting MPC quality, reliability, and fleet readiness.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 3
to 10 years of relevant experience in MPC development, reliability analysis, maintenance planning, logistics support, technical documentation, and shipboard systems. Knowledge of maintenance development, technical publications, drawings, supply data, and shipboard maintenance requirements. Experience applying RCM, LORA, LOMA, RBS, or comparable methods. Ability to analyze technical information, resolve issues, and present recommendations. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and applicable maintenance, logistics, routing, or technical data systems. Strong technical writing, analytical, communication, coordination, and attention-to-detail skills.EDUCATION
High school diploma orGED. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Associate degree, technical certification, or higher education in engineering technology, marine systems, maintenance management, logistics, reliability engineering, or a related field.
