Technical Writer Position Summary The Technical Writer is responsible for developing, writing, and maintaining high-quality technical documentation that supports products throughout their full lifecycle. This role produces clear, accurate, and compliant documentation for both print and electronic formats and works closely with cross-functional teams to ensure technical accuracy and usability. Key Responsibilities Develop, write, edit, and maintain technical documentation, including: Operation manuals Service manuals Kit instructions Technical bulletins Ensure documentation meets established quality, formatting, and compliance standards Collaborate cross-functionally with: Engineering Service Manufacturing Marketing Translate complex technical information into clear, user-friendly content Support documentation updates throughout product development and lifecycle changes Qualifications Candidates must meet one of the following requirements: Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of technical writing experience, or 8+ years of relevant professional experience, or An equivalent combination of education and professional experience Preferred Experience & Skills Experience supporting industrial or technical products Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical teams Work Environment & Opportunities Work on globally recognized industrial equipment products Collaborate directly with engineering and manufacturing teams Contribute to documentation that supports critical product operations and service Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Hagerstown, MD. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $49.52/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
