MQ-25 Technical Author
Title:
MQ-25 Technical AuthorKBR's Mission Engineering organization delivers mission-critical engineering, integration, and lifecycle support solutions to the U.S. Department of Defense. With deep expertise across mission engineering, modeling and simulation, cyber-enabled transformation, air vehicle integration, and sustainment, KBR partners closely with government customers to enable operational readiness across manned and unmanned aviation platforms. The MQ-25 Technical Author is responsible for researching, developing, writing, and editing technical data to produce high-quality technical publications. This role ensures all documentation aligns with established standards, procedures, and formats, while maintaining consistency across Maintenance Task Analysis (MTA) data, Logistic Support Analysis (LSA) products, and Data Modules (DMs). The Technical Author collaborates closely with internal and external teams, attends program and technical meetings, and represents the organization professionally at all times. This is an on site, in office position in Patuxent River, MD.Roles & Responsibilities
  • Research, develop, and edit technical content to support the creation of technical publications and related deliverables
  • Review Maintenance Task Analysis (MTA) reports and coordinate with internal and external Logistic Support Analysis (LSA) teams to ensure alignment with Data Module (DM) content
  • Work with internal stakeholders, external customers, and government organizations (including NATEC) to ensure documentation accuracy and completeness
  • Participate in program meetings, providing subject-matter support and representing the company in a professional manner
  • Collaborate with graphics teams to request, review, and incorporate required illustrations and visual assets
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining style guidelines for technical writing and illustrations
  • Integrate inputs from engineering, program requirements, and technical experts to develop clear, accurate documentation
  • Prepare draft materials for review by subject matter experts and finalize content in accordance with customer requirements
  • Support proposal development through the preparation and editing of technical content, as needed
  • Adapt to new information, emerging requirements, and evolving tools or standards
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support program and organizational objectives.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with at least 4 years of relevant experience; or 12 years of equivalent related experience in lieu of a degree
  • Experience with military technical documentation and integrated logistics support standards (ARs, MIL-STDs, MIL-PRFs, IETMs, TPDRs, DIDs, etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and utilize MTA and LSA data
  • Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools, CAD modeling software, Catia, or Visual Mockup
  • Flexibility to adjust work hours in support of critical mission requirements
  • Ability to travel up to approximately 25% as needed
  • Secret ClearancePreferred Skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe applications, and Oracle tools
  • Experience with XML authoring and S1000D Data Module development
  • Experience with the EAGLE Publishing System, the NAVAIR Enterprise Common Source Database (highly desirable), or equivalent systems such as NSIV
  • 10+ years of military aviation experience
  • Ability to research technical information and develop clear, accurate procedural documentation
  • Knowledge of S1000D standards, Document Type Definitions (DTDs), and style sheets used in Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs)
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment and software tools.
Compensation:
$72,000
  • 90,000.
The salary range posted is based on the national average. The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate's location, knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience, contract affordability, and in consideration of internal parity.
Additional Compensation:
KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, short-term incentives, long-term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
