Engineering Technical Writer Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Technical Writer to provide technical writing support and updates for both new and existing documentation. The role requires ensuring that project deliverables are executed on time, with high quality, and within budget. The Technical Writer will work with industry and customer standards to develop quality and user-friendly formats and templates for future publications. Additionally, the role involves editing and managing technical documentation in support of business products, ensuring that documentation is complete, accurate, and timely. Responsibilities Collaborate with subject matter experts in the creation and implementation of documentation. Become familiar with applicable products, services, concepts, practices, requirements, and procedures. Prioritize, organize, and complete multiple activities, meeting established deadlines. Collect, analyze, and compile information from various resources for use in the creation or editing of procedures, reports, and documents. Manage review and approval of documents, including comment resolution. Develop documents that are organized, succinct, compliant, and meet internal and external deadlines. Edit documents for consistency, clarity, grammar, syntax, format, and compliance with customer and regulatory requirements. Process engineering changes through appropriate data management systems. Work to and update project schedules on a regular basis. Perform requirements traceability and publishing, as required. Support input into the Product Lifecycle Management System (PLM). Perform records management type functions and records maintenance activities, as assigned. Provide training to other staff members on Configuration Management (CM) functions, as assigned. Essential Skills Proficiency in technical writing within an engineering or manufacturing environment. Experience developing new content from a variety of resources such as product specifications and interviews with technical subject experts. Demonstrated proficiency in using computer applications, including word processing and data entry. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, or an associate's degree working towards a Bachelor's degree with experience in technical writing. Work Environment This position involves working in a manufacturing environment where collaboration with technical subject matter experts is essential. The role requires the use of various computer applications and data management systems. It is a dynamic work setting with multiple activities to prioritize and complete within established deadlines. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Raleigh, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
