Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and versatile Technical Writer to support our growing manufacturing and defense contracting operations. This individual will play a critical role in developing white papers, proposals, and technical documents for submission to government customers. In addition, they will support company communications including blog posts, customer updates, and social media content that highlight our capabilities and innovations. This position is ideal for a self-motivated professional who can translate technical concepts into clear, persuasive language and enjoys working closely with engineers, program managers, and business development staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Writing & Proposal Support Research, write, and edit technical white papers, proposals, RFIs, and RFP responses for submission to U.S. government and defense customers. Collaborate with subject matter experts to accurately describe manufacturing processes, thermal systems, pressure vessels, and other engineering-focused solutions. Maintain a library of reusable proposal content, including company overviews, past performance, project summaries, and personnel bios. Ensure compliance with solicitation requirements and a consistent tone and style in all submitted documents. Customer & Marketing Communications Draft and publish blog posts, case studies, and news updates to share technical accomplishments and contract wins. Create social media content (primarily LinkedIn) to promote brand visibility and customer engagement. Assist with marketing materials such as product datasheets, capability brochures, PowerPoint decks, and trade show collateral. Support internal and external communications including newsletters and customer announcements.
Required Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in technical writing, proposal writing, or documentation development — preferably in the defense, engineering, or manufacturing sector. Strong understanding of government contracting and federal proposal development processes. Excellent writing, editing, and organizational skills with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly and concisely. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat. Ability to interface with engineers and business development staff to gather information and meet tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supporting government or defense-related proposals and technical sales efforts. Exposure to manufacturing processes, mechanical systems, or thermal/structural components. Experience supporting both technical and light marketing communications for B2B audiences. Familiarity with CRM systems or document automation tools (e.g., HubSpot, Loopio, SharePoint).
