Job Title:
Technical Writer Job Description This role focuses on creating clear, accurate, and user-friendly technical documentation for a wide range of products and systems within the material handling and industrial sectors. The Technical Writer will translate complex engineering information into accessible installation, operation, maintenance, conveyor, and procedure manuals tailored to the intended audience, using Microsoft Word and related office tools. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to high-impact projects with well-established industry players and supports remote work. Responsibilities Write comprehensive installation, operation, maintenance, conveyor, and procedure manuals for all products and systems. Review and interpret engineering content, drawings, and specifications, and translate them into clear, user-focused documentation. Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and other technical documentation that support manufacturing and industrial operations. Ensure all manuals and documents are accurate, consistent, and aligned with product functionality and safety requirements. Produce and format all documentation using Microsoft Word and other Microsoft Office tools, following established templates and style guidelines. Collaborate with engineering and other technical teams to gather information, clarify requirements, and validate the accuracy of content. Continuously improve documentation quality by updating materials as products evolve and incorporating feedback from stakeholders. Organize and maintain documentation files to ensure they are easy to access, update, and distribute to the intended audience. Essential Skills Proven experience in technical writing, with a focus on creating installation, operation, maintenance, and procedure manuals. Ability to read, understand, and digest engineering content and convert it into clear, concise documentation for non-technical and technical audiences. Strong writing skills with excellent grammar, clarity, and attention to detail. Experience producing technical documentation in Microsoft Word and working effectively with Microsoft Office tools. Background in manufacturing, industrial environments, or material handling equipment documentation. Familiarity with developing standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and technical manuals. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience producing documentation specifically for manufacturing or industrial materials. Knowledge of the material handling industry and material handling equipment. Comfort working on projects for large, well-known industry players. Ability to work independently in a remote setting while meeting deadlines and maintaining high documentation standards. Work Environment This is a remote role that allows you to work from your preferred location while collaborating with technical and engineering teams. You will primarily use Microsoft Word and other Microsoft Office applications to develop and format documentation. The position supports projects in the material handling and industrial sectors, including high-visibility initiatives for major industry players, offering exposure to complex systems and ongoing project growth. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Louisville, KY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
