Work Location:
This position is 100% on-site, primarily located in Herndon, VA, with an alternate work location available in Bowie, MD. Candidates must be able to work on-site at one of these locations based on program requirements. In this position, you will: Develop and maintain technical documentation including system manuals, user guides, procedures, training materials, and compliance artifacts Translate complex engineering, cybersecurity, and system concepts into clear, concise, and accurate content Ensure documentation aligns with FAA standards, federal regulations, and program requirements Participate in documentation reviews and audits to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance Collaborate with engineers and program teams to gather requirements and validate technical content Ensure all deliverables meet Section 508 accessibility and FAA branding guidelines Manage documentation schedules and deliverables across multiple workstreams Prepare documentation status updates and readiness materials for program stakeholders Apply industry best practices, tools, and templates to continuously improve documentation quality Why This Role Matters FAA modernization relies on documentation that is precise, usable, and compliant. U.S. Citizenship Required. Must have the ability to obtain / maintain a Public Trust clearance. Bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience; or Associate's degree and 4 years experience; or HS diploma/equivalent and 6 years experience. Experience producing technical documentation in engineering, IT, or systems-focused environments. Demonstrated experience developing technical manuals, user guides, procedures, and compliance documentation. Ability to translate complex technical information into clear, concise, and accurate content for diverse audiences. Familiarity with documentation standards, style guides, and content management practices. Experience ensuring documentation compliance with federal requirements, contractual standards, or regulated environments. Working knowledge of Section 508 accessibility requirements.Preferred Qualifications:
Direct FAA or NAS configuration management experience. Familiarity with FAA modernization initiatives, NextGen, or National Airspace System (NAS) environments. Experience documenting complex systems, including infrastructure, cybersecurity, or software-intensive programs. Knowledge of NIST frameworks, cybersecurity documentation, or system certification processes. Experience using documentation tools such as MadCap Flare, Adobe FrameMaker, Confluence, SharePoint, or XML-based authoring tools. Exposure to agile or DevSecOps environments. Experience supporting audits, readiness reviews, or compliance documentation. Professional certifications such as Certified Technical Communicator (CTC) or equivalent credentials. #BNATC Details Target Salary Range:
$51,000 - $82,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.Benefits Statement:
