Job Description We're looking for a Video Editor to elevate our video content across YouTube long-form and paid/organic social. This is a hands-on, high-output editing role. You'll be responsible for turning raw footage into polished, high-performing videos—whether that's a 15 minute YouTube deep dive or a 15 second paid social cut—and delivering platform-native content at scale. You have a sharp eye for story structure, pacing, and retention. You know how to keep viewers watching and can adapt your editing style across formats and platforms. You're equally comfortable crafting a long-form narrative as you are cutting a punchy social clip that stops the scroll.
Employment Type:
6 month Contract Edit YouTube long-form videos from rough cut through final delivery Cut down long-form content into shorter, platform-native edits for paid and organic social (Reels, Shorts, etc.) Script, shoot, and edit short-form social video content as needed Perform sound mixing and color correction on all owned edits Collaborate closely with producers and creative leads on story structure, pacing, and visual direction Incorporate motion graphics, text overlays, and sound design to enhance storytelling Deliver rough cuts and final assets on deadline, incorporating feedback from project stakeholders Manage post-production workflows including asset organization and media management Optimize edits based on performance data—watch time, retention curves, CTR, etc. Maintain brand consistency and quality standards across all video outputs Turn projects around quickly while maintaining a high quality bar in a high-volume environment What Success Looks Like YouTube videos that consistently hit strong watch-time and retention benchmarks A reliable, efficient post-production pipeline from rough cut to export Social edits that feel native to each platform, not just chopped-down long-form Consistent, high-volume output without sacrificing quality Measurable improvement in video performance tied to editorial decisions Qualifications 4+ years of professional video editing experience in a digital media, production, agency, or brand environment Expert-level skills in Adobe Premiere Pro and proficiency across Adobe products (specifically After Effects and Photoshop) Strong understanding of YouTube best practices—hooks, pacing, retention, thumbnails Experience editing both long-form (10+ min) and short-form social content Deep fluency across social platforms (Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn) with a strong understanding of platform-specific best practices and algorithms Solid sound mixing, color correction, and sound design skills Strong voiceover recording, scripting, and story-editing abilities Actively monitors trending sounds, formats, and cultural moments to keep content relevant Highly organized with strong project and asset management habits—able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively Clear, effective communicator comfortable working with cross-functional stakeholders Open to constructive feedback and comfortable iterating toward the best outcome in a collaborative, fast-paced environment Innovation forward approach to working with an appetite for incorporating new technologies (AI specifically) into workflows Additional Information Available in more than 20 countries, Care.com is the world's leading platform for finding and managing high-quality family care.
