Job Description
What you'll do:
The Visual Communications Storyteller is a high-energy role designed to elevate our people-centric storytelling by producing, coordinating, and distributing video content. In this role, you'll help bring Church Mutual's day-to-day energy to life through visual storytelling — making our leadership accessible, our culture visible, and our thought leadership content engaging for both employees and external audiences. You'll work across teams to shape stories and occasionally step in front of the camera to deliver short, authentic video content. The Visual Storytelling Lead creates engaging, short-form content that can be efficiently adapted across digital platforms — including social media, website, and intranet.
Core Responsibilities:
Partner with executive leadership to manage and deliver end-to-end video communications, including regular internal leadership updates and an ongoing video podcast sharing organizational news, context, and priorities. Develop and drive multimedia strategies that align with organizational goals and marketing campaigns. Serve as an embedded journalist, leading on-the-street recordings that capture candid interviews and behind-the-scenes moments showcasing culture and expertise, while occasionally appearing on camera to deliver brief self-recorded updates and explainers. Translate relevant industry news, current topics, and company expertise into easy-to-understand video content that helps position Church Mutual as a trusted voice in the nonprofit, religious, education, and camp sectors across our website and social media. Lead end-to-end production of short-form video content, efficiently creating and adapting clips for distribution across platforms (from SharePoint to LinkedIn) while supporting and extending social media and visual content efforts. Partner closely with design and communications teammates to feature company news, announcements, culture, and expertise in a consistent and engaging way. Supports social media content creation and strategy through multimedia storytelling. Acts as main point of contact for external video/photography vendors, overseeing budget, contracts, timelines, and quality control. Create custom graphics and visual overlays for video content, translating complex insurance topics into clear, engaging visuals that enhance storytelling and support key messages. Collaborates across departments to build engaging content that supports both enterprise and team-level initiatives. Keeps current with industry trends, tools, and technologies to recommend innovations that enhance engagement and effectiveness.Qualifications:
Experience:
5+ years in multimedia production, digital journalism, or corporate storytelling.Tools:
Proficiency in Adobe Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Express, Rush) and Vimeo. Experience in animations, motion graphics, and AI-enabled tools is preferred.Production Skills:
Proficient in lighting, audio recording, and camera setups for podcasting and field interviews.Communication:
Exceptional interpersonal and interview skills; ability to coach non-professional talent (employees and executives) to feel comfortable on camera.Portfolio:
A portfolio or demo reel that demonstrates a mix of work—with priority weighted toward short-form, fast-turn video content. Examples of a higher-production project are welcome.Preferred Experience:
Experience in corporate communications, insurance, financial services, nonprofit, education, religious, camp, safety, risk management, or other mission-driven sectors. Experience producing executive video series, internal podcasts, culture storytelling, event recaps, social-first thought leadership, or customer education content. Ability to build repeatable content formats, templates, production workflows, and content calendars that help a lean team scale its storytelling. Church Mutual is an equal opportunity employer.
