Job Description
Import Entry Writer Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process import entries through U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) using ACE
- Classify goods using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS).
- Submit and manage timely and accurate Importer Security Filing (ISF/10+2) in accordance with CBP regulations.
- Verify documentation such as commercial invoices, bills of lading, packing lists, and arrival notices.
- Coordinate with clients, freight forwarders, carriers, and government agencies to ensure timely release of cargo.
- Monitor the status of shipments and resolve issues such as holds, exams, or missing documentation.
- Maintain compliance with CBP regulations and company procedures.
- Update and maintain internal systems and records.
- Provide customer service and support to import clients regarding entry status, clearance timelines, and required documentation.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree or higher preferred.
- 1-2 years of experience in customs brokerage, freight forwarding, or international trade preferred.
- Knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations and HTS classification is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with
ACE, ABI
systems, and related import software.- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
