Job Description
Benji Personal Injury is a growing California law firm seeking an intelligent, hardworking, and detail-oriented Writer to join our litigation team. No legal experience is required. We will train the right candidate. We are looking for someone with strong reading comprehension, excellent writing ability, and the ability to work quickly, accurately, and consistently in a fast-paced litigation environment. This role requires someone who can stay highly focused, avoid distractions, and complete assignments on time while maintaining high quality. The ability to manage sustained reading and writing tasks with efficiency and attention to detail is essential. We also value candidates who are comfortable using modern tools, including AI such as ChatGPT, to assist with drafting, organizing, and improving workflow efficiency—while maintaining independent thinking, accuracy, and full responsibility for all work product. Responsibilities Working under the supervision of attorneys, you will assist with litigation support and legal writing tasks, including: Drafting responses to written discovery (interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admission). Preparing discovery requests, court forms, declarations, notices, correspondence, and other litigation documents. Drafting legal documents using both templates and original writing based on attorney instructions. Reviewing and organizing case materials such as medical records, accident reports, deposition transcripts, and police reports. Preparing clear, concise summaries of case facts, legal issues, evidence, and witness testimony to assist attorneys. Summarizing large volumes of documents into organized written reports. Performing basic research and factual review as assigned. Proofreading, editing, fact-checking, and revising documents based on attorney feedback. General office and administrative support tasks, including copying, scanning, saving, naming, and organizing documents within case files. All work is completed under attorney supervision. All documents are reviewed and approved by an attorney before being filed or served.
Qualifications The ideal candidate will:
Have strong reading comprehension and excellent writing skills. Be able to work quickly and efficiently while maintaining accuracy. Be highly focused and able to stay on task for extended periods without distraction. Not be easily distracted and able to consistently complete assignments on time. Be able to quickly understand and process large amounts of information. Write clearly, logically, and accurately. Have strong attention to detail and take pride in producing precise, high-quality work. Be highly organized and able to manage multiple assignments at once. Follow instructions carefully and respond well to feedback. Be dependable, motivated, and eager to learn. Technology & Tools Comfortable using modern productivity tools, including AI tools such as ChatGPT, to assist with drafting, research, and workflow efficiency. Uses AI as a tool to increase speed and effectiveness, not as a replacement for independent thinking, judgment, or responsibility.
