ORA_ON_SITE Description This position offers an exciting and challenging opportunity to support NASA's Artemis program. As the Extravehicular Activity and Human Surface Mobility (EHP) Integrated Hazard Analysis (IHA) author, you will apply your knowledge and expertise of EHP safety requirements, processes, tools and products to develop mission level safety analyses of NASA human spaceflight missions. You will be responsible for ensuring the integrated mission design and proposed operations comply with all applicable Safety and Mission Assurance (S&MA) requirements, and that all flight safety risks have been identified, characterized, and mitigated within the EHP hazard reports.
Job Description:
Supports Systems Requirement Review, Preliminary and Critical Design Reviews of EHP systems hardware, provide engineering evaluations against design and safety requirements. Serves as the EHP Author for the Artemis Lunar Surface Integrated Hazard Analysis Reports, including integration aspects among the Human Landing Systems (HLS), Lunar Terrain Vehicle (LTV), Pressurized Rover (PR), Multi-Purpose Habitation (MPH), Exploration EVA (xEVA) Hardware, and Payloads/Government-Furnished Equipment (GFE). Assesses hazard analysis reports of hardware and systems associated with Artemis Lunar Surface missions, including HLS, LTV, PR, MPH, xEVA Hardware, and Payloads/GFEs. Assure the technical adequacy of analyses developed for the Artemis Program. Requires extensive oral and written interaction with high-level customer personnel. Participates in the Artemis forums to provide S&MA engineering support in vehicles, EVA suit, and payload/GFE developments. Ensures accuracy and delivery of products including Program Integrated Hazard Causes assigned to the program elements, development, update, and issuance of the cross program integrated hazard cause records and Program Integrated Hazard Analysis. Coordinates and negotiates with the EHP elements to identify, resolve, or initiate actions to resolve issues that impact the Integrated Hazard Causes assigned to the Program elements or to resolve issues for causes assigned to other program elements. Reviews and assesses safety analysis hazard reports, requirement non-compliances, and support programmatic safety reviews. Evaluates safety and mission assurance impacts of proposed engineering changes to EHP hardware and processes.
Qualifications Required Education:
Bachelors and two (2) years or more experience; Masters and 0 years related experience

External Education and Experience:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Aerospace) or STEM (e.g., Math, Physics)
Required Skills:
3-5 years of experience in operations and/or engineering. Basic knowledge and use of personal computer with typical business software. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills are mandatory. Systems Engineering experience is desired. Spacecraft vehicle and system knowledge is desired.
NASA S&MA
experience is desirable. Infrequent travel may be required. Must be able to obtain a Public Trust.
