Design and Technical Production Lead

JOB SUMMARY

This role holds a central position at River Woodcraft, translating raw measurements and client concepts into built-ready designs and CNC driven production assets. Responsible for site data capture, design development, technical drawings, material prep, and subcontractor coordination. The role ensures project flow efficiently from concept to CNC programming and physical execution.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Site Measurement and Initial Input Conduct thorough and accurate onsite measurements for cabinetry installations Record Site Conditions and constraints that may affect layout or fabrication Photograph and document existing architectural features as reference for design Design and Concept Development Translate site measurements and client goals into preliminary design concepts Create visual layouts using Sketchup and/or Moziak (and any new opportunities) design software Collaborate with COO and Client Coordinator for design alignment Technical Drafting and Revisions Generate detailed shop drawings once designs are approved Update plans based on client revisions or site conditions Maintain version control and ensure clarity for all stakeholders (shop, installer, client) Project Hand Off and Material Planning Compile all approved selectins and client input from Client Coordinator Create complete cut lists, materials takeoffs, and hardware counts Specify all required raw materials (plywood types, veneer sheets, MDF, hardware) Generate and submit purchase orders to approved vendors or subcontractors CNC Machine Oversight/Production Support Prepare Mozaic or Fusion 360 files (or any future software) for CNC machining, ensuring precision and optimization Troubleshoot CNC production erros, toolpath issues or calibration discrepancies Support the shop team, when needed, in interpreting CNC output and verifying parts Fusion 360 Programming to design and program custom components or non-standard parts. Generate 3D models, simulations and G code for advanced fabrication needs. Maintain a digital archive of custom parts or repeat or modular use.

Login and effectively input time on a daily basis in River Woodcraft's QuickBooks TSheets Time system Understand all applicable Shop rules and regulations, including those noted in the Employee Handbook and the Health and Safety Manual Report all safety incidents to appropriate supervisor or management Maintain and be aware of production schedules outlined by Project Manager Have ability to learn to read and interpret shop drawings Possess strong organizational and problem-solving skills, as well as a keen attention to detail Maintain a positive and respectful attitude Demonstrate flexibility and efficient time management Possess the ability to thrive and perform in a changing, fast-paced, and challenging environment Work independently on tasks assigned or required Demonstrate a positive initiative to keep goals on schedule. Ability to lift heavy materials and work with various hand and power tools. Stamina to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks. Flexibility to work in various environmental conditions, including exposure to dust and noise.
