Job Description

Design Consultant/Sales Winterville, NC 28590 From $50,000 a year - Full-time From $50,000 a year - Full-time Byrd Tile is a local family-owned tile and stone distributor who has been serving central and eastern North Carolina for over 50 years. The company strives to build long-term relationships with Builders, Remodelers, Designers, Architects and Contractors. Each of Byrd tile's relationships are based on honesty and integrity, with the goal of providing clients with value, quality and expertise. Byrd Tile is currently seeking a Design Consultant for its Winterville showroom. This person meets with clients and takes them through the tile selection process. Design Consultants are the driving force behind bring the homeowner's visions into a reality. They work with builders, remodelers, designers, installers, and homeowners alike from the selections process until the material gets to the jobsite.
SKILLS REQUIRED
1. Strong customer service relationship-building skills 2. Ability to plan, organize and set priorities 3. Maintain customer communication and ensure customer satisfaction 4. Demonstrate strength as a critical thinker and problem solver 5. Superior verbal and written communication skills 6. Must possess good and friendly people skills 7. Possess good knowledge of the computer and its basic applications 8. Unquestionable integrity 9. Strong organization skills 10. Must be self-motivated and have ability to work independently 11. Must possess ability to multi-task 12. Work collaboratively with internal staff and outside sales staff 13. Follow procedures for preparing and entering orders 14. Ability to learn product lines and industry standards 15. Ability to multitask
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Assist customers A) Guide customers through the selection and order process. B) Show options while maintaining customer budget. C) Follow showroom schedule. Work as a team with other designers D) Follow up with walk-ins or call ins for appointments E) Just be nice! Speak and greet everyone!! F) Get customer's excited 2. Create and grow loyal customer base A) Superior Customer Service. B) Contact existing builder/ designers once a month C) Thank you cards and calls, Ask for Google reviews D) Work with business development to find new customers. Reach out. Follow up leads E) Goal should be 2 appointments per day F) Keep jobs ledger and appointment calendar 3. Paperwork A) Follow color selection sheet procedures and get signatures B) Create Sales orders through Sage C) Create Purchase orders through Sage D) Use Stone variation agreements, large format agreement etc., when required E) Learn and Use selection Google Docs 4. Assist Showroom Coordinator in upkeep and organization A) Sampling/labeling B) Merchandising C) Clean and orderly work spaces D) Look for new products. 5. Customer Service A) Be ready for appointments. B) Be proactive , not reactive. Anticipate questions, options, problems. C) Handle problems quickly and professionally D) Return phone and emails promptly. 6. Knowledge of products and procedures A) Stocking lines B) Prices C) Paper trail/ processes D) Nonstock Vendors and freight rates and schedules E) Promotions, specials, sales, spiffs etc. 7. Marketing A) Ask for and forward images of products or jobs to Media Specialist B) Attend networking events
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Help Receptionist with switchboard as needed. 2. Perform other allied duties as assigned by Manager. 3. Dress in business casual manner (refer to employee handbook).
