Job Description
Position Summary The Design Specialist position with Olde Wood Limited (OWL) is responsible for developing and maximizing sales opportunities with industry professionals, homeowners, architects, designers, and builders. This role focuses on selling reclaimed and wide plank flooring, reclaimed building materials, and related products while building and maintaining strong client relationships. The Design Specialist also provides exceptional customer service and assists with incoming customer inquiries and calls. Responsibilities Generate and maximize sales leads through OWL marketing efforts by developing new business opportunities and maintaining strong relationships with existing accounts. Increase sales opportunities through upselling, identifying customer needs, and promoting additional products and services. Develop and contact prospective customers to introduce products, services, and solutions while effectively closing sales opportunities. Maintain a strong understanding of company products, services, sales goals, quotas, and strategic plans through ongoing training, technical literature, and participation in sales meetings. Present products and solutions to clients through demonstrations, product literature, samples, estimates, and detailed explanations. Provide exceptional customer service by processing orders, managing account details, and responding promptly to customer inquiries and feedback. Strengthen and expand customer relationships by maintaining consistent communication, identifying account needs, and introducing new products, services, and upgrades. Maintain and expand professional knowledge through educational opportunities, professional publications, networking, and participation in industry organizations. Assist with answering incoming calls and directing customer inquiries as needed. Perform any other reasonable duties assigned by the Regional Sales Manager. Skills & Qualifications Technical Skills Proficient in Google Workspace, including Docs and Sheets. Experience using CRM platforms; Salesforce experience preferred but not required. Basic database knowledge, including Microsoft Access or similar systems, is a plus. Comfortable using internet-based applications, email platforms, and calendar management tools. Professional Skills Strong face-to-face, phone, and written communication skills. Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with architects, designers, builders, homeowners, and other clients. Demonstrated success in sales development, account management, and managing large customer accounts or contracts. Ability to identify customer needs and effectively present solutions that drive sales growth. Flooring industry experience is preferred; flooring installation knowledge is highly beneficial. Willingness to learn, grow professionally, and take on new challenges. Physical & Work Requirements Ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Ability to work a standard 40-hour work week, typically Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with flexibility as business needs require. Ability and willingness to travel approximately 20-25% as needed.
