Detention Librarian

Pay:

$40/hr ($4240/week or $183,733/yr) We are staffing a secure detention facility in North Florida. We're looking for a Detention Librarian who is ready to deploy and operate in a structured, high-security environment. The Detention Librarian manages inmate access to educational and recreational library resources while ensuring compliance with facility rules. This role combines professional library functions with correctional security requirements to provide safe, constructive access to books, media, and literacy programs. Your Mission Facilitate inmate access to library materials in compliance with security protocols. Catalog, organize, and circulate books, periodicals, and legal resources. Support inmate literacy and educational programs as permitted by facility rules. Maintain records of inmate check-outs, returns and overdue materials. Monitor the library environment during inmate use to ensure order and security. Identify and report restricted, damaged, or contraband materials. Assist with inventory management and ordering of new materials. Prepare basic reports on circulation, usage, and program participation. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Education, or related field preferred 1-3 years of experience in a library, educational, or correctional setting. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Familiarity with cataloging and circulation systems. Ability to work effectively in a high-security environment.
