Detox Nurse

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled RN Detox Nurse to provide comprehensive nursing care to individuals undergoing detoxification from substance dependence or other medical conditions. The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical expertise, including experience with acute care, critical care, and specialized treatments such as IV infusion and medication administration. As a Detox Nurse, you will play a vital role in ensuring patient safety, comfort, and recovery through meticulous assessment, monitoring, and intervention within a supportive environment. Duties Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and review of medical history to determine appropriate detox protocols. Monitor patients continuously during detoxification processes, managing symptoms of withdrawal and providing interventions for acute pain or discomfort. Administer medications accurately, including IV infusions, injections, and other treatments while adhering to aseptic techniques and safety standards. Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans aligned with patients' needs and progress. Maintain detailed medical documentation in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Cerner or Epic, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Educate patients and their families about the detox process, medication regimens, and post-care planning to promote understanding and cooperation. Manage emergency situations effectively by utilizing skills in airway management, ventilator support, and trauma response when necessary. Ensure infection control protocols are strictly followed to prevent complications during treatment. Skills Extensive nursing experience in acute care settings such as ICU, emergency room, or hospital medicine with familiarity in trauma medicine and Level I/II trauma center protocols. Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Cerner or Epic for accurate documentation and case management. Strong knowledge of pharmacology related to detoxification treatments, including medication administration for withdrawal management. Experience with IV infusion therapy, venipuncture, catheter care, and aseptic techniques essential for patient safety. Skilled in patient assessment techniques involving vital signs, physiology knowledge, and diagnostic evaluation. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations including individuals with developmental disabilities or those requiring behavioral health support. Familiarity with infection control standards, laboratory procedures, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), and medical terminology relevant to detox protocols. Critical thinking skills combined with excellent communication abilities for triage situations and interdisciplinary collaboration.
