Job Description

Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract Step into a fulfilling contract opportunity as a Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in the Chattanooga area, serving students across multiple campuses for the 2026-2027 academic year. In this essential role, you'll provide specialized instruction and advocacy to help students with hearing challenges fully engage in their educational experience. The position is full-time (35 hours per week), running from August 5, 2026, through May 19, 2027, with specific caseload and age group details to be shared as enrollment is finalized.
Key Qualifications:
Valid and active Department of Education certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing instruction Previous experience working with deaf or hard of hearing students in K-12 educational settings strongly preferred Proficiency in developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) Ability to effectively collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, teachers, and families Commitment to promoting an inclusive and supportive learning environment Must complete fingerprinting and meet required credentialing standards within specified timelines
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver tailored instruction, accommodations, and support to students with hearing differences Adapt curriculum and materials to enhance access and maximize student learning outcomes Assess students' academic levels, track progress, and maintain current documentation Serve as an advocate for students' needs during meetings and within the academic setting Communicate regularly with school staff and parents to foster a collaborative approach Provide training and resources to other educators as needed Take your professional journey to the next level in a meaningful role that truly changes lives.
