Job Description

Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract Empower students and make a lasting impact by providing specialized educational support as a Teacher of the Deaf or Hard of Hearing. In this contract role, you'll collaborate within the school environment to deliver tailored services for a small group of students, helping them access curriculum and thrive in their academic journey. As a valued professional working closely with district staff, your commitment to individualized instruction and your expertise in supporting Deaf/Hard of Hearing learners will be essential. Your compassionate approach and creative problem-solving will ensure each student receives the attention and resources they need.
Qualifications and Experience:
Valid teaching certification with Deaf/Hard of Hearing endorsement. Demonstrated experience delivering instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in school settings. Proficiency in various communication modalities, including American Sign Language (ASL), oral communication, and written language. Ability to develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). Skillful in collaborating with classroom teachers, families, and support staff. Patience, adaptability, and a genuine desire to advocate for students' needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct instruction and consultative support for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing across grade levels. Adapt classroom materials and instructional methods for multiple communication needs. Participate in IEP meetings, assessments, and progress reporting for assigned students. Offer staff consultations and training to support inclusive practices. Serve as a resource for student advocacy and accessibility.
