Die Cast Operator Job Description The Die Cast Operator sets up, operates, and troubleshoots die cast molding machines to produce high-quality zinc castings in a clean, organized machine shop environment. This role focuses on ensuring machines run efficiently, products meet precise specifications, and production goals are achieved safely and consistently across first or second shift schedules.Pay :
$20-28.00/hr (Based off skills & Experience upon meting onsite with leadership) Responsibilities Set up die cast molding machines according to production specifications, including configuring tooling, fixtures, and measuring devices. Start up and operate die cast machines to produce zinc castings in accordance with established procedures and quality standards. Troubleshoot die cast molding machines to identify and resolve issues related to pressure, temperature, speed, feed rates, and cycle times. Turn valves and adjust dials on machines to regulate pressure, temperature, speed, feed rates, and cycle times for optimal performance. Ensure machines operate effectively and efficiently throughout the shift, minimizing downtime and maintaining consistent output. Check and test castings produced on zinc die cast machines to verify conformance with dimensional and quality requirements. Visually inspect products for surface and dimensional defects and take appropriate action to correct or contain nonconforming parts. Use precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers, calipers, and thread gauges, to verify dimensions and tolerances. Perform in-process and final inspections to ensure products meet print specifications and customer requirements. Follow production instructions, work orders, and print reading requirements to ensure accurate and consistent manufacturing. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in the machine shop, including proper handling of tools and equipment. Support production goals by working efficiently, communicating issues promptly, and assisting team members as needed. Adhere to all safety procedures and company policies while performing machine operation, setup, and inspection tasks. Essential Skills Previous machine operating experience in a manufacturing or production environment. Proficiency using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and thread gauges. Strong math skills and the ability to read and interpret prints and production documentation. Ability to set up, operate, and perform basic troubleshooting on production or molding machines. High school diploma and/or relevant technical certification. Ability to lift or move up to 25 lbs regularly and occasionally lift or move up to 50 lbs. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with die cast, diecasting, or die cast machine operation and setup. Experience as a machine operator in production environments using measuring tools and inspection equipment. Familiarity with inspection practices and quality checks in a production setting. Comfort working with production schedules and meeting output targets. Mechanical aptitude and interest in operating and maintaining industrial machinery. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a clean, organized machine shop environment within an indoor manufacturing facility. Team members work around die cast molding machines and related production equipment with constant exposure to moderate noise levels typical of a machine shop. Shifts include a first shift from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with overtime and a second shift from 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. with overtime, providing structured hours in a production setting. The position requires standing and walking throughout the workday, frequent reaching with hands and arms, and constant use of hands and fingers to handle and manipulate parts, tools, and measuring devices such as micrometers, calipers, and thread gauges. Employees perform frequent repetitive motions and rely on close, distance, color, and depth perception vision to inspect parts and monitor machine operations.
