Talen Energy is soliciting candidates interested in filling the position of Diesel Generator Engineer at the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station located near Berwick, Pennsylvania. Susquehanna Steam Electric Station, one of the largest dual-unit, Boiling Water Reactor sites in the U.S., delivers approximately 2700 MW of electricity to the grid in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Susquehanna Nuclear is a member in good standing with the Utilities Service Alliance. Job Summary:
Under general direction, responsible for engineering activities associated with assigned electrical systems at the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station, with a focus on the station's Emergency Diesel Generators. Works independently with minimal guidance using knowledge of electrical engineering concepts. May provide guidance and direction to other Talen Energy employees to support production of high quality, timely and cost-effective engineering solutions to technical problems.Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide in-depth technical expertise to develop, manage, and implement engineering analysis, activities, and programs.
- Develop and implement trending and monitoring plans for assigned systems/components to ensure safe reliable equipment performance.
- Demonstrate ownership of assigned systems/components, and advocate for system performance improvement opportunities.
- Provide technical expertise and consultation through direct involvement to identify and resolve equipment and system problems.
- Uses existing procedures to investigate, evaluate and assist in producing technically correct and cost-effective designs or recommendations that solve ongoing problems.
- Directly interface with other workgroups (i.e., Operations, Maintenance) and Station Leadership regarding system issues and improvement initiatives.
- Build relationships that will facilitate knowledge transfer, cross functional knowledge of related work groups, and ability to present work products effectively.
- Assists in a variety of topics including developing procedures, improved design recommendations or new or better equipment purchase recommendations.
- Routinely review industry operating experience and collaborate with industry peers and forums and effectively apply 'lessons learned' for improving system performance and reliability.
Basic Qualifications:
Engineer BS Degree in Engineering Individuals must meet nuclear requirements for Unescorted Plant Access. Support Engineer BS Degree in Engineering Minimum 2 years related engineering experience. Individuals must meet nuclear requirements for Unescorted Plant Access. Sr. Engineer BS Degree in Engineering Shall have at least five years of experience in engineering at a commercial nuclear reactor facility. Individuals must meet nuclear requirements for Unescorted Plant Access.Preferred Qualifications:
Working knowledge of Emergency Diesel Generators or electrical distribution systems Previous commercial nuclear experience Familiar with electrical design requirements for Nuclear Power plants is desired.Professional Engineer Registration Note:
