Diesel Mechanic

Maintain work area in a neat and clean condition. Ensure that area is picked up at the end of each day. Provide personal tools for basic mechanic work and ensure proper use and care of assigned tools. Request parts as soon as possible from the RHT Fleet & Maintenance Manager in writing on repair orders. Accurately record date, parts, all worked performed, mileage and hours worked on each repair order. Answer RHT Fleet & Maintenance Managers questions about equipment and repairs. Assist the RHT Fleet & Maintenance Manager with informing drivers and operators on how to operate and maintain equipment. Assist other employees with technical knowledge. Ensure that all paperwork is turned in promptly at the end of each repair. Test drive vehicles. Weld parts and equipment. Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on all assigned vehicles and equipment. Estimate and complete all non-scheduled maintenance in a timely manner. Service and change tires and wheels. Ensure that all hazardous chemicals and waste oil are stored and disposed of properly each day. Ensure that all part cores are stored, tagged and returned to vendors the next time the vendor delivers.

Requires:

• High school diploma
• 1-2 year experience in mechanics
• Farm experience preferred but not required
• knowledge/skills/abilities
• Ability to communicate with Manager regarding performance, customers, and equipment maintenance.
• Ability to communicate with drivers and dispatcher.
• Ability to cooperate and work closely with others, while being a "team player".

Collect parts from the Parts Department for outstanding Repair Orders.
