Diesel Mechanic
  • 2nd Shift 1356 3rd St, Brilliant, OH 43913 From $30 an hour

  • Full-time Cowboy Industries is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Diesel Mechanic to maintain, diagnose, and repair heavy-duty diesel trucks and equipment.
This role emphasizes air brake systems, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems , with a strong preference for candidates experienced working on tankers, vacuum trucks, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks . The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and committed to minimizing vehicle downtime while maintaining compliance with all safety and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities Inspect, diagnose, and repair air brake systems , including brake lines, chambers, valves, compressors, slack adjusters, and ABS components Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems , including pumps, cylinders, valves, hoses, fittings, and power take-off (PTO) systems Diagnose and service pneumatic systems , including air lines, tanks, regulators, and controls Perform preventive maintenance and routine service on diesel engines, transmissions, suspensions, and drivetrains Maintain and repair tankers, vacuum trucks, and roll-off trucks , including chassis-mounted equipment Perform daily repairs from drivers Daily VOR Identify mechanical issues using diagnostic tools and technical manuals Replace or fabricate brake lines and hydraulic hoses as needed Ensure all repairs meet DOT, OSHA, and company safety standards Complete accurate service documentation and maintenance records Communicate repair needs and timelines clearly with supervisors and operations staff Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Shift:
Monday to Friday 4pm to 2am Opportunities for overtime! Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED (technical or trade school preferred) Minimum 1 year experience (may include school), 3 years preferred Strong knowledge of air brake systems, hydraulic systems, and pneumatics Must have own tools Ability to read schematics and diagnostic codes Proficient with diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and shop equipment Valid driver's license (CDL preferred or willingness to obtain) Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in various physical conditions Preferred Qualifications Experience working on tankers, vacuum trucks, and roll-off trucks CDL with air brake endorsement ASE certifications (Brake Systems, Diesel Engines, or Medium/Heavy Truck preferred) Welding or fabrication experience Familiarity with PM programs and fleet maintenance software Work Environment Shop-based and field service work as required Exposure to grease, oil, and outdoor weather conditions Potential for on-call, overtime, or weekend work based on operational needs What We Offer Competitive pay based on experience Overtime opportunities Benefits package (medical, dental, vision, retirement, PTO) Company-provided tools and uniforms (if applicable) Stable work environment with a well-maintained flee Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Statement Bass Environmental is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
