Job Description

Sanico Inc is a locally owned and operated garbage company based out of Phillipsburg NJ. Our service area includes all of Warren County as well as parts of Hunterdon, Morris and Sussex Counties NJ. Sanico has an opening for a medium and heavy-duty truck mechanic to assist in maintaining its fleet of garbage trucks. Candidates must possess mechanical aptitude, a strong work ethic and a desire to learn. Prior experience maintaining heavy-duty fleets is mandatory.
PAY IS BASED ON EXPIERENENCE
Range of Pay 85,000 to 100,000 includes OT We are seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic with strong knowledge of garbage/refuse truck repair and maintenance . The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, and skilled in diagnosing and repairing heavy-duty diesel equipment to keep our fleet running efficiently and safely. Key Responsibilities Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel vehicles, with a primary focus on refuse/garbage trucks Perform preventive maintenance inspections and services Repair diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspensions, brakes, steering, and electrical systems Troubleshoot hydraulic systems including packers, arms, lifts, and PTO systems Perform DOT inspections and ensure fleet compliance with safety regulations Accurately document repairs and maintenance records Work closely with fleet supervisors to prioritize repairs and minimize downtime Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment Qualifications Valid Driver's License (willingness to obtain CDL Class B license ) Minimum 5 years of diesel mechanic experience , Strong diagnostic skills with heavy-duty diesel and hydraulic systems Experience with Mack, Freightliner, or similar refuse trucks (preferred) Ability to work independently and as part of a team Preferred Certifications (Not Required) ASE Diesel Certifications OEM training or certifications Hydraulic systems training Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 75 lbs Stand, kneel, bend, and work in various positions for extended periods Work in a shop and outdoor environment in varying weather conditions Benefits Competitive pay with overtime opportunities Health, dental, and vision insurance Profit sharing plan (similar to 401k) Paid time off and holidays Uniforms and safety gear provided Stable, long-term employment with a growing company
